Forex broker contests with real cash prizes are one of the few ways to earn money from a broker without risking your own capital — at least in the case of demo contests. Several well-known brokers run regular trading competitions with prize pools that range from modest amounts to significant sums. This guide covers the brokers known for running quality contests, what you should verify before entering, and how the prize structures actually work.

All brokers discussed here have been reviewed through our vetting process. For specific, up-to-date contest details including exact prize amounts and current terms, refer to our Broker & Bonus Matrix — we do not fabricate or estimate prize figures.

Verified June 2026. forex-bonus.com may earn a commission through broker links. This never influences our ratings or recommendations. Full disclosure. Trading forex carries significant risk — most retail traders lose money.

Availability note: Forex contests, like other broker promotions, may be unavailable to clients in regions where bonuses and incentives are restricted — including the EU (ESMA), UK (FCA), Australia (ASIC), and the US (CFTC/NFA). Confirm eligibility with the broker before registering.

What Makes a Good Forex Contest

Not every contest is worth entering. The quality of a contest depends on several factors beyond the headline prize number.

Transparent, published rules. The terms should be fully available before you register. If the broker does not publish complete rules — including the ranking metric, eligible instruments, leverage limits, minimum trade duration, and prize distribution schedule — that is a red flag.

Withdrawable prizes. Some brokers award “prizes” as bonus credit with volume requirements, effectively turning your winnings into a bonus you may never withdraw. The best contests pay cash directly to your account or via bank transfer with no additional conditions.

Regulated broker. A contest prize is worthless if the broker does not actually pay it. Regulation does not guarantee payment, but it provides accountability and a complaints process. Verify the broker’s regulatory status in our broker directory.

Fair ranking metric. Percentage return rankings level the field between accounts of different sizes. Absolute profit rankings give larger accounts an unfair advantage.

Reasonable participant pool. Contests with tens of thousands of participants reduce your odds significantly. Smaller contests offer more realistic chances of placing.

Contest Prizes and Conditions Compared

The broker profiles above describe who runs contests. The table below is the harder question — what our Broker & Bonus Matrix actually records for each competition, including the ones that have already ended. Prize size is the least important column; the withdrawal condition is the one that decides whether a prize becomes money.

ContestPrizeEntry requirementCondition to withdraw the prizeKey exclusionsMatrix statusEnter
HFM Demo Contest$2,000 / $1,000 / $500 (1st / 2nd / 3rd)Monthly, runs 1st to last day of each month10 standard lots plus 50 round-turn trades; prize amounts themselves are non-withdrawable, only profits traded from themEU, UK, AU, US, China, BangladeshActive, verified 7 Aug 2026Enter at HFM

HFM Awards monthly contest$1,000 monthly cash prizeRegister before the 7th business dayEU, UK, AU, USExpired — confirmed 7 Aug 2026Not open

Read the fourth column, not the second. The HFM demo contest has the biggest headline prize on the board and the heaviest strings attached — 10 standard lots and 50 round-turn trades before any of it becomes cash. Tickmill’s Trader of the Month has the smallest prize and, per the current terms, no withdrawal condition at all. That inversion is the single most useful thing on this page. Note also that Tickmill’s contests exclude India and Singapore, and HFM’s demo contest excludes Bangladesh — check your own country against the Bonus Finder before you plan around any of these.

Demo Contests vs Live Contests: Which Pay Better?

Live contests generally offer larger prize pools because the broker generates revenue from the real deposits and trading volume of participants. However, demo contests offer better risk-adjusted returns because you do not put any capital at risk.

For a thorough comparison of the two formats, see our guide on demo vs live forex contests.

The practical recommendation: enter every reputable demo contest you qualify for (the cost is only your time), and only enter live contests with capital you have specifically allocated for competitive trading and can afford to lose.

What to Verify Before Entering Any Contest

Use this checklist before registering for any broker contest:

  1. Broker regulation. Is the broker regulated? By which authority? Check our broker directory.
  2. Complete published rules. Can you read the full terms before registering? If not, do not enter.
  3. Prize withdrawal terms. Are cash prizes immediately withdrawable, or are they credited as bonus with volume conditions?
  4. Entry requirements. Is it free? Does it require a deposit? How much?
  5. Ranking metric. Percentage return (fair) vs. absolute profit (favors larger accounts)?
  6. Historical payout record. Has the broker actually paid previous contest winners? Forum reviews and community feedback are useful here.
  7. Your eligibility. Confirm your country of residence is eligible for the contest.

Alternatives to Contests

If the competitive format does not suit you, several other broker promotions deliver value without the winner-takes-all structure.

  • Cashback / rebate programs pay you back a portion of the spread or commission on every trade. The return is predictable and accumulates regardless of whether your trades are profitable.
  • No deposit bonuses give you free trading credit without requiring a deposit — similar to a demo contest prize but without the competition.
  • Deposit bonuses match your deposit with bonus funds, increasing your trading capital.

Use our bonus comparison tool to evaluate which promotion type delivers the most value for your trading volume and style.

How to Find Current Contests

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have to pay taxes on forex contest prizes?

Tax treatment of contest prizes varies by country. In many jurisdictions, contest winnings are considered taxable income. Consult a tax professional in your country of residence. This is especially important for larger prizes, as failing to report them could create legal issues.

Can I enter multiple broker contests at the same time?

Yes, there is no restriction on entering contests at different brokers simultaneously. Many active contest participants run multiple demo contests in parallel to increase their chances of placing. Just be aware that managing multiple contest accounts requires more screen time and attention.

Are contest prizes paid as real cash or bonus credit?

It depends on the broker and the specific contest. Some brokers pay cash directly — you can withdraw it immediately. Others credit prizes as bonus funds with volume requirements. This distinction is critical. A $1,000 prize with a 30-lot volume requirement before withdrawal is worth significantly less than $1,000 in freely withdrawable cash. Always check the prize terms.

Which brokers pay contest prizes the fastest?

Processing times vary, but most regulated brokers process contest prizes within a few business days to two weeks after the contest ends and results are verified. Brokers with established contest programs (those that run recurring contests) tend to have smoother payout processes. Check broker reviews and community forums for payout experiences.

Risk Warning: Forex and CFD trading carries significant risk. Most retail traders lose money. Never trade with funds you cannot afford to lose.
