XM India is one of the most-searched broker topics among Indian forex traders, and for good reason. XM accepts Indian clients through its offshore entity, supports accounts starting from $5, and runs bonus programmes that include India as an eligible country. But trading with an offshore broker from India comes with regulatory nuances that every trader must understand before opening an account. This guide covers bonus eligibility, deposit methods, KYC requirements, account types, and the regulatory reality of forex trading in India. Every offer figure below is taken from our Broker & Bonus Matrix as re-verified on 7 August 2026.
Availability note: XM bonuses are available to Indian traders through XM Global Limited (Belize FSC, License 000261/106). Bonuses are not available in the EU, UK, Australia, or the US. The Belize entity provides less regulatory protection than CySEC- or FCA-regulated entities. See our full XM review for details.
RBI Alert List note: XM appears on the Reserve Bank of India’s official Alert List of entities not authorised to deal in forex in India (listed at serial no. 33; list dated November 19, 2025, checked August 2026). This is an authorisation statement, not a fraud finding, but Indian traders should understand what it means before opening an account — see our full RBI Alert List explainer.

Entity, founding year, minimum deposit, platforms, rating and bonus figures are all from our Broker & Bonus Matrix. Leverage, spreads and live deposit-method menus are not Matrix-tracked fields — they are set inside XM’s own account-opening and cashier pages and change without notice, so confirm them there rather than here. See our XM bonus page for full bonus breakdowns.
How Indian Traders Access XM
Indian clients are onboarded under XM Global Limited, regulated by the International Financial Services Commission of Belize (IFSC, License 000261/106). This is distinct from XM’s CySEC (EU), ASIC (Australia), or DFSA (Dubai) entities.
Understanding this matters for two reasons:
- Bonuses are only available under the Belize entity. XM’s EU and Australian arms do not offer bonuses due to CySEC and ASIC restrictions. Indian traders registering through XM Global gain access to the full bonus suite.
- Regulatory protection is limited. Belize is a tier-3 jurisdiction. There is no investor compensation fund equivalent to what CySEC or the FCA provides. If a dispute arises, your recourse is limited to XM’s internal complaints process and the Belize regulator — not an Indian court, and not the European scheme.
XM also holds an FSC Mauritius license, which may apply to certain Indian clients. XM’s multi-regulatory structure means the entity you trade under depends on your country of residence, and it is assigned automatically during registration.

The Regulatory Reality: SEBI, RBI, and Offshore Forex
This section is not legal advice. Consult a qualified financial professional for your specific situation.
India’s forex trading landscape is shaped by two regulators:
SEBI (Securities and Exchange Board of India) oversees securities and derivatives markets. SEBI-registered brokers offer forex trading only on recognized exchanges (NSE, BSE, MCX-SX) and only for INR-paired currency pairs (USD/INR, EUR/INR, GBP/INR, JPY/INR). Margin trading on non-INR pairs like EUR/USD or GBP/USD is not available through SEBI-regulated platforms.
RBI (Reserve Bank of India) controls foreign exchange under the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA). Under FEMA, remitting funds abroad for speculative margin trading on leveraged forex products is a grey area. The RBI does not explicitly authorize sending money overseas to trade leveraged forex, though thousands of Indian traders do so through offshore brokers.
What this means in practice:
- XM is not regulated by SEBI or the RBI. It operates as an offshore broker under Belize FSC regulation.
- Indian traders who fund XM accounts use international payment methods (UPI, net banking, e-wallets) to transfer funds offshore.
- There is no domestic regulatory recourse if something goes wrong. Disputes fall under Belize FSC jurisdiction.
- Tax obligations on forex trading profits still apply under Indian income tax law, regardless of where the broker is based.
None of this makes trading with XM illegal per se, but it does mean you accept increased counterparty risk compared to trading through a SEBI-registered broker. XM has operated since 2009, and its regulation under CySEC and ASIC (for other jurisdictions) provides some institutional credibility, but the Belize entity that serves Indian clients is the one that matters for your account.

XM Bonus Offers Available in India
India (IN) is listed as an eligible country for XM’s core bonus programmes in our Broker & Bonus Matrix. All data below is from the Matrix, checked against XM’s official bonus terms documents where confirmable (re-verified 7 August 2026). Items marked “Unverified” could not be confirmed directly — always check xm.com/promotions for the current terms.
One honest caveat first: XM’s published $50 no deposit T&C document names no countries at all. Our eligibility entry for that offer is assembled from XM’s regional promotion coverage and is flagged in the Matrix for per-country re-verification. The offer figures below are PDF-verified; the country list behind them is our best-evidenced reading, not a quote from XM.
| Bonus Type | Amount | Volume Requirement | Time Limit | Profit Cap | Status |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| No Deposit Bonus | $50 | 10 micro lots (0.1 std lots), min 5 round-turn trades | No claim window stated in current T&C | No cap stated | Active |
| Deposit Bonus | 50% up to $500 + 20% up to $4,500 (max $5,000) | No explicit lot requirement (non-withdrawable credit) | Ongoing | No profit cap | Active |
| Enhanced Deposit Bonus | 100%/$500 + 50%/$500 + 20%/$5,000 advertised (no combined total stated) | Volume conditions not published | Region-specific per XM’s promotions page | No profit cap | Unverified |
| XM Traders Club (Loyalty) | XM Coins on trading activity, redeemable for bonuses, cash, or tools | Not published by XM | Ongoing | Not published by XM | Unverified |
Source: Broker & Bonus Matrix, re-verified 7 August 2026. The enhanced deposit bonus structure is advertised on XM’s own promotions page but has no published T&C document behind it and no combined total stated by XM — do not add the tiers together. Always verify current terms at xm.com/promotions before claiming. Where a value is not published by XM we say so rather than estimating it.

XM No Deposit Bonus for Indian Traders
The $50 no deposit bonus lets you start trading without funding your account. Here is how it works for Indian clients:
- Amount: $50 in trading credit (non-withdrawable; only profits are withdrawable)
- Volume to unlock withdrawals: 10 micro lots (0.1 standard lots) with a minimum of 5 round-turn trades
- Time to claim: No claim window or expiry stated in the current $50 terms (the 30-day clause appears only in XM’s separate $100 variant document)
- Profit cap: No cap stated — all profits withdrawable under XM’s standard withdrawal procedure after meeting volume
- Restrictions: New clients only, first real account only, redeemable once, and one no-deposit-bonus account per unique IP address. Shares accounts are excluded. Withdrawing funds removes bonus credit proportionally rather than voiding it outright. The current $50 T&C contains no Expert Advisor or automated-trading prohibition.
Is this realistic? Trading 0.1 standard lots across 5 round-turn trades is among the lightest NDB volume requirements in the industry. On EUR/USD, you could meet this in a few trading sessions. The $50 balance is small, so trade with micro lots and tight risk management. This is best treated as a trial of XM’s execution and platform rather than a meaningful income opportunity.
Important: SMS verification is required to activate the bonus. Make sure your Indian mobile number is verified during registration.
XM Deposit Bonus for Indian Traders
The standard deposit bonus matches your deposits with trading credit:
- First deposit: 50% match up to $500
- Subsequent deposits: 20% match up to $4,500
- Total maximum: $5,000 across both tiers
- Minimum deposit: $5.
- Not eligible: Zero accounts and Ultra Low accounts, per the official T&C. Register on Micro or Standard if the bonus matters to you.
- Volume requirement: none stated in the published T&C. The credit is non-withdrawable margin rather than funds you unlock by trading a quota.
- Proportional removal: Withdrawing your own funds removes a proportional amount of bonus credit.
- Time limit: ongoing, open to new and existing clients. No expiry or inactivity-forfeiture clause appears in the published T&C.
Note on the enhanced structure: XM’s own promotions page now advertises a regional three-tier variant: 100% up to $500 on the first deposit, then 50% up to $500 and 20% up to $5,000 on subsequent deposits (“bonus availability and percentage vary by region”). No T&C matching this variant has been published, its volume conditions are unstated, and XM quotes no combined total for it — so the PDF-verified 50%+20% structure (max $5,000) remains the reliable baseline. The terms shown in your XM back office take precedence. Verify which version applies to your account at xm.com/promotions.
Practical example for Indian traders: If you deposit $200, the standard 50% first-tier match gives you $100 in bonus credit, bringing your usable margin to $300 against $200 of your own money. The rupee equivalent moves with the exchange rate, so check it on the day. That is 50% more room before a margin call, not 50% more money — the credit never becomes yours, and it is removed proportionally if you withdraw funds.
XM Traders Club Loyalty Programme
XM has replaced the old XMP points schedule with the XM Traders Club: trading earns XM Coins redeemable for bonuses, cash, and trading tools. XM has not published the earn rates, tiers, or redemption values, so we no longer quote per-lot figures — check the Traders Club section of your XM Members Area for the current schedule.
Redemption values for XM Coins are not published by XM. Cash redemptions are more useful than bonus-credit redemptions because cash is typically withdrawable without additional volume conditions.
Indian traders who plan to use XM long-term should enroll from day one. The compounding value over months of active trading can meaningfully offset spreads and commissions.
UPI and Indian Payment Methods on XM
What we will and will not claim here. Our Matrix verifies what brokers fix in writing: bonus amounts, volume requirements, eligibility, minimum deposits, platforms and regulation. It does not track live cashier menus, because brokers do not publish them and their payment partners rotate without notice. So we will not print a confirmed XM deposit-method table for India. The rails the Indian market generally runs on — UPI, net banking, wallets and international wire — reach offshore brokers through third-party payment processors rather than a direct integration, and which of them appear on any given day depends on the broker’s current processor arrangements and the country on your profile.
Open the cashier and read the live menu before funding. It takes five minutes, you can do it before depositing a rupee, and it is more reliable than any table we could print.
Deposit considerations for Indian traders:
- XM’s minimum deposit is $5 for Micro and Standard accounts. The rupee equivalent moves with the exchange rate, so check it on the day rather than working from a figure on any comparison page.
- Deposits are converted from INR to your account’s base currency at the payment processor’s rate, not the interbank rate you see on a search engine. The cashier states the converted amount before you confirm — screenshot it.
- Whether XM or your provider charges a deposit fee is shown in the cashier at the point of payment; it is not fixed in the terms documents we verify.
- INR as a base account currency is not published in the data we verify. Assume USD unless registration offers otherwise, which means you pay a conversion spread on the way in and again on the way out.
Withdrawal to India: brokers generally return funds by the method used to deposit — a standard anti-money-laundering practice, not an XM quirk. The cashier states which routes are open to your account. Bonus credit is never withdrawable at any tier; only profits are, and only after each offer’s conditions are met. Processing time on the local leg is whatever your bank or wallet adds.
KYC Verification: Aadhaar, PAN, and Indian Documents
XM requires full identity verification before you can trade or claim bonuses. For Indian clients, acceptable documents include:
Proof of Identity (any one):
- PAN card
- Aadhaar card
- Valid passport
- Voter ID card
- Driving licence
Proof of Address (any one):
- Aadhaar card (if not used for identity)
- Recent utility bill (electricity, water, gas — typically within 6 months)
- Bank statement (recent, showing your name and address)
Additional requirements:
- SMS verification on your Indian mobile number (mandatory for bonus activation)
- Documents must be clear, unedited, and show all four corners
- Verification typically takes 24 hours but can take longer during high-volume periods
PAN card note: While PAN is primarily a tax document, it is widely accepted by offshore brokers as a valid identity proof for Indian clients. Having your PAN details ready also helps when you need to report forex trading profits under Indian income tax law.
Complete KYC verification before attempting to claim any bonus. The no deposit bonus specifically requires full verification and SMS confirmation before activation.
XM Account Types for Indian Traders
XM offers several account types. Here is how they map to what Indian traders typically need:
| Account Type | Min. Deposit | Spreads | Bonus Eligible | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Micro | $5 | Not a Matrix-tracked field — check XM’s current conditions | Yes | Beginners, small accounts |
| Standard | $5 | Not a Matrix-tracked field — check XM’s current conditions | Yes | Most Indian traders |
| Ultra Low | $50 | Tighter than Standard, per XM’s own conditions page | No — excluded from the deposit bonus | Cost-focused traders who skip bonuses |
| Shares | Not published in the data we verify — check XM’s current terms | Variable, per-share commission | No — excluded from the no deposit bonus | Stock CFDs on MT5 only |
For Indian traders interested in bonuses, the Standard account is the most practical choice. It accepts the minimum $5 deposit, is eligible for all bonus programs, and provides access to MT4, MT5, and the full instrument range.
The Ultra Low account offers better spreads but is excluded from all bonus programs. Choose this if you prioritize raw trading costs over bonus credit.
For a detailed comparison of all XM account types, see our XM account types breakdown.
XM Trading Platforms in India
Indian traders on XM can use:
- MetaTrader 4 (MT4): The most widely used platform among Indian forex traders. Available for Windows, Mac, Android, and iOS. Supports Expert Advisors — and note that the current $50 no deposit bonus T&C contains no prohibition on automated trading, contrary to what many older write-ups still claim.
- MetaTrader 5 (MT5): Enhanced version with more timeframes, order types, and a built-in economic calendar. Increasingly popular for traders who also want access to stock CFDs.
- XM WebTrader: Browser-based platform that requires no download. Useful if you trade from shared devices or cannot install software.
All three platforms are accessible from India without a VPN. XM’s servers provide execution across multiple data centres, though Indian traders may experience slightly higher latency compared to traders closer to European or Asian server locations. For most retail trading strategies, this difference is negligible.
Tax Implications for Indian Forex Traders
This section is for general awareness only and is not tax advice. Consult a chartered accountant familiar with forex taxation in India.
Forex trading profits earned through offshore brokers are taxable in India. Key points:
- Income tax: Trading profits are generally classified as either business income or speculative income, depending on trading frequency and intention. The applicable tax slab and ITR form depend on how your chartered accountant categorizes the activity.
- Foreign remittance: Under the Liberalised Remittance Scheme (LRS), Indian residents may remit up to USD 250,000 per financial year for permitted current and capital account transactions (RBI, Liberalised Remittance Scheme FAQs, accessed 17 August 2026). Whether leveraged forex trading through an offshore broker is a permitted purpose at all is exactly the question the RBI Alert List speaks to — it is not a settled “yes”.
- TCS (Tax Collected at Source): LRS remittances above a statutory threshold attract TCS, which is adjustable against your income tax liability. The threshold and the rate have both changed recently — the Finance Act 2025 raised the general LRS threshold from ₹7 lakh to ₹10 lakh with effect from 1 April 2025, and rates differ by purpose. Any figure you find in an older article is likely stale, ours included if you are reading this long after the date above. Confirm the current threshold and rate on the Income Tax Department site or with your chartered accountant before you plan around a number.
- Reporting: Foreign assets and income from foreign sources must be disclosed in your income tax return. Non-disclosure can attract penalties under the Black Money Act.
Keep records of all deposits, withdrawals, and trade history from XM. Platforms like MT4 and MT5 allow you to export detailed account statements that your CA can use for tax filing.

Should Indian Traders Use XM?
Strengths for Indian traders:
- Very low minimum deposit ($5) accessible to most Indian retail traders
- India appears on the eligibility list we hold for both verified bonus programmes, which is not true of every broker Indian traders are pitched — Tickmill’s welcome no-deposit account and Windsor Brokers’ no-deposit credit both exclude India outright, and Vantage’s 150% first-deposit bonus excludes India too
- The lightest no-deposit volume requirement in our Matrix, with no stated profit cap and no claim deadline
- MT4 and MT5 are well-known and trusted platforms
- Operating since 2009, with multi-jurisdictional regulation at group level (CySEC, ASIC in other regions) — longevity is evidence, not protection
Limitations to consider:
- Indian clients trade under Belize FSC regulation, which offers minimal investor protection
- SEBI and RBI do not regulate or authorize XM, meaning no domestic recourse
- The deposit bonus is non-withdrawable credit — only profits can be withdrawn, so the headline amount overstates its cash value
- Currency conversion from INR adds a small but recurring cost on every deposit and withdrawal
- The regulatory grey area means rules could change, potentially restricting offshore broker access
Bottom line: XM is a reasonable choice for Indian traders who understand the offshore regulatory trade-off. The low entry point and bonus availability are genuine advantages, and the deposit bonus is backed by an actual published T&C document rather than a landing-page claim. But XM appears on the RBI Alert List, there is no domestic regulation behind your account, and you are relying entirely on XM’s track record and the Belize regulator’s oversight. Trading forex carries significant risk and most retail traders lose money. Never deposit more than you can afford to lose, test the full deposit-and-withdrawal loop with small amounts first, and consider diversifying across brokers rather than concentrating all funds with a single offshore entity.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is XM legal for Indian traders?
SEBI does not regulate offshore forex brokers, and the RBI restricts INR-based forex margin trading to domestic exchanges. Indian residents can open accounts with offshore-regulated brokers like XM Global Limited (Belize FSC) at their own risk. XM is not RBI- or SEBI-authorized, which means you have no domestic regulatory recourse. The activity falls into a regulatory grey area rather than being explicitly prohibited. Consult a legal professional for your specific circumstances.
Can I deposit to XM using UPI or Paytm?
Possibly, and you should check rather than trust any table. XM’s deposit menu for India is operated by third-party payment processors and the available rails rotate without notice, so wallet and UPI support is not fixed in the terms documents we verify and we will not publish a confirmed list. Register, open the cashier before funding, and read the live menu — it costs nothing and takes minutes. Note also that deposits are converted from rupees at the processor’s rate rather than the interbank rate.
Does XM offer a no deposit bonus in India?
Yes. India is listed as eligible for XM’s $50 no deposit bonus through XM Global Limited (Belize FSC). To claim it, you must complete full KYC verification (PAN card or Aadhaar plus proof of address) and SMS and/or voice verification on your Indian mobile number. The volume requirement to withdraw profits is 10 micro lots (0.1 standard lots) with at least 5 round-turn trades; no claim window is stated in the current terms.
Do I need PAN and Aadhaar to open an XM account?
You need at least one identity document (PAN card, Aadhaar, passport, voter ID, or driving licence) and one proof of address document (Aadhaar, utility bill, or bank statement). You do not necessarily need both PAN and Aadhaar, but having both ready speeds up verification and is useful for tax reporting purposes. SMS verification on an Indian mobile number is also required for bonus activation.
